Hi, I'm Ange

I am a writer, grief & death awareness advocate & Massage Therapist devoted to helping people take care of their bodies. I am rolling through this wild world as a neurodivergent human. I write and reflect on the hard stuff that life throws at us. I am currently living on the traditional territory of the WSÁNEĆ (Saanich), lək̓ʷəŋən (Songhees), Wyomilth (Esquimalt) peoples of the Coast Salish Nation.

I am somewhat active on social media, where I started a few writing platforms. My main focus lately is grief and loss. All links to my work in this realm can be found here. I write reflections and offer resources that help me and others sit with our grief.

Through my writing, reflective self-guided writing prompt course, articles, grief reflections book Love Notes To Grievers and ongoing projects; it is a privilege to connect with people traversing the complex and messy human experience—rooted in love and belonging.

This brings me to the quote that replays in my mind often, written by Joan Didion about her husband's sudden death.

"Life changes in the instant. The ordinary instant."

Grief has rocked every inch of my being, all aspects of my life, every piece of my heart shattered into unchartered territory. It is paramount to normalize this experience so that grieving people have space to process it healthily. This is not something we shake off. There is no going back to our "normal" self. We learn to move forward with purpose and hopefully make space to feel it all.

My life changed in the ordinary instant, and the same for many others. Yet, our North American death-phobic, hyper obsessive happiness quest culture makes us ill-equipped to hold ourselves and others in our darkest moments. We will all face our loved ones' deaths and our own. There is a gap in our knowledge of how to hold broken hearts. I want to be someone that helps to change that.
