Hi, I'm Ange

I am a writer, grief & death awareness advocate & Massage Therapist devoted to helping people take care of their bodies. When I am not doing that, I am writing, educating myself and others about the hard stuff that life throws at us. I currently live on the traditional territories of the W̱SÁNEĆ and Lekwungen-speaking peoples (Victoria, BC)

I have created two online writing platforms, one that focuses on grief and loss. I put together reflections and resources that help me work through some of the hardest experiences I've had to face, helping others when I share those reflections.

Through my reflections, writing course, articles and an upcoming book on grief and loss, it is a privilege to be in community with people who are willing to explore aspects of the human experience that are heart-shattering, rooted in love and belonging—finding new ways to explore our complexities.

All that brings me to the quote that replays in my mind often, written by Joan Didion about her husband's sudden death.

"Life changes in the instant. The ordinary instant."

The recent deaths of my friend, father and beloved grandmother so close together rocked every inch of my being, all aspects of my life, every piece of my heart shattered into unchartered territory. It is paramount to normalize this experience so that grieving people have space to process things healthily.

This is not something we just shake off. There is no going back to our "normal" self. We learn to move forward with meaning and hopefully make space to feel it all.

My life changed in the ordinary instant, and the same for many others, and yet, people do not have the compacity to hold others in their darkest moments. We will all face our loved one's deaths and our own. There is a gap in our knowledge of how to hold broken hearts. I want to be someone that helps to change that.

Your stories matter. Your grief matters.
